Fishing Programme

Kayaking and Canoeing

During the summer, from April, training sessions take place on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6.30pm at the club in Long Close.

During the winter, we arrange pool sessions on Tuesday evenings where members can practice skills such as rolling and rescue in a safe and warm environment. We aim to teach basic skills in both canoeing and kayaking and give members a chance to be assessed against national proficiency standards, should they wish.

  • Whitefriars Sailing Day - August 16th - see events page and booking form.
  • Awards Night 2014 - Tuesday September 2nd 18:00 - more details to follow.
  • Paddle-Ability Top Club - The Club has been awarded ‘Paddle-Ability Top Club’ by Canoe England. This is in addition to Clubmark Top Club which the Club has held since 2011.
Paddle-Ability Top Club recognises that we are disability aware:  the Club has a range of craft – for example the katakanus, sit-on-tops and kayaks of different sizes so that anyone, regardless of ability can have a go and our coaches will tailor the courses to meet specific needs.
The Club is one of the very first ten within England to be awarded this standard.
Anyone, with any disability, is welcome to come along to meet us and have a go at Paddlesport.
  • 'Spendapenny' campaign‏.
Remember we are still collecting the small change bottles (and other receptacle) given out last year to raise funds for the shower/toilet blocks. We have already raised about £100, which we have been able to claim gift aid on.
