Chippenham Sailing and Canoeing Club British Canoe Union

Becoming a member

Chippenham Sailing & Canoeing Club welcomes applications for membership from anyone interested in the sports.

Ideally you should pop down to visit the Club in the first instance - Tuesday evenings for kayaking, Wednesday evenings and Sundays for sailing, and Thursday evenings for family interest in anything to do with floating! We'll be pleased to welcome you, to show you around and to answer any questions you may have.

We'll offer you a Membership Application form, but we'd encourage you to come along for one or two 'taster' sessions before submitting your application, just to make sure that you feel comfortable with the Club and that it's right for you.

We'd refer you to the Club Rules and ask you to read through them before making your applications, as application for membership impliedly indicates willingness to comply with them. Again, if you have any queries or issues, we'd do our best to answer them fully.

When you feel the time is right, your completed form should be sent, with a cheque (payable to 'C.S.C.C.') to cover your Joining and Membership Fees, to the Membership Secretary.

Applications for trailer parking and/or boat storage should be submitted to the committee.

Medical Information

For your safety or that of your child it is important that the Club is informed of any medical condition or allergies that may be relevant, should an accident or illness occur whilst at the club. Medical Information will be requested from every member applying to join an official sailing or canoeing course or trip, and it is very important that this is returned to the Organising Officer prior to commencement.

How do I become a member?

Membership of the Club is conditional upon completion of a short induction session and pre-payment of the Membership Subscription(s) for the current Club year, which runs from 1st April to 31st March in the following year. Subscriptions shall be due on 1st April, after which membership will be deemed to have ceased, and re-application will have to be made. Members elected after 30th Sept shall only pay 50% of membership fee and members elected after 1st Jan shall not be required to pay a renewal subscription for the following year.
