New members must complete a mandatory 3 week course before being granted access to the club outside of coached / instructed sessions. This course covers some basic boat handling skills, some safety and rescue skills and is there to make sure you are comfortable on the water.

About the event
Once you have joined the club, new members must complete a mandatory 3 week course before being granted access to the club outside of coached / instructed sessions. This course covers some basic boat handling skills, some safety and rescue skills and is there to make sure you are comfortable on the water. You may be awarded a PaddleUK Paddle Discover and Paddle Safer certificate after the three weeks, depending on your progress. All adult members must complete this course, so if you are joining as part of a family membership, all adults on the membership must attend. Children can attend too. Attendance at all three sessions is required. These courses will be run on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th Tuesday of each month from May through to July. The course is £40 for adults and £20 for children.
